I have a 55 gallon steel barrel that I want to put below my freshwater spring and collect the water for drinking. I used an identical barrel to catch rain water - and the inside of the barrel rusted. What can I treat the inside of the steel barrel with to prevent rust that will not be dangerous for drinking water? Thank You! :) Drinking from a rusty container is not dangerous? I"ve never done this before, but my Parents always acted like rust = life threatening substance.

I recently purchased a supposedly stainless steel braclet on eBay but when I checked to see if it was attracted to a magnet, it wasn't. I used the magnet to verify it was truly stainless steel. I always thought stainless steel would be attracted to a magnet. Helmut mentioned that 300 series not readily attracted. Does not readily mean not at all, or just barely, or what?

I have had this steel string scoustic guitar for about 8 months. I have not changed the strings yet. But I keep thinking they are kinda worn out. But really. How long does it take until they wear out you need to replace new steel strings? Or do they wear out at all?

I had the new kitchen installed 7yrs ago. I noticed an awful smell a little while ago. On investigating I found that it was coming from the draining board. It has been washed with Cif a few times a week and also at least 1 lot of dishes are drained on it every day! I can't understand how stainless steel can stink. The dishwasher is under it but I keep that clean and it is used once a day.Could the housing that it is in have rotted? Is it time to install a new stainless steel unit or another medium?
